The Mountains are Calling Copper Cuff
The Mountains are calling and I must go... John Muir. He knew what he was talking about. The mountains speak to so many of us, touching our spirits. I had to do a cuff to pay homage to that.
This lovely copper cuff starts its life as a solid sheet of copper and brass . It is cut to size, sanded and heat treated to temper the metal. The pattern is then added and it is heat treated again. Finally it is formed and patina added, cleaned up, and ready for you!
Because it is a cuff it will fit most people, and is 1 1/2" W. To avoid stressing the metal from constant opening and squeezing shut- adjust to fit your wrist then turn opening to the side to remove and put on.
Completely handcrafted in my Appalachian studio, it is charged with all the good vibes and energy I put into all my work.
Copper and Brass- The Magic Metals
If tradition is to believed, these metals have healing properties. Copper is allegedly a strong conductor of energy, and an aid for exhaustion. This makes sense as it is used for electrical wiring. Copper is also supposed to detoxify the body, drawing the toxins from your system through the skin where the copper is worn. These therapeutic properties are evidenced by oxidation, turning your skin green when the piece is not sealed. I have been told by countless customers, that it does indeed relieve arthritis pain. Not only does Brass have the same benefits as copper, but it is also said to assist in healing the skeletal structure, and is conducive to spiritual and mental healing, self-discipline, and strength. Recently it has been discovered that most germs cannot live for more than five minutes on copper versus 72+hours on stainless steel! If a bracelet turns your skin green and you wish to stop that, simply seal the inside/back of the piece with hairspray, and let dry. When you wish to detox, wipe the hairspray away with a damp cloth.
