'The Outer Limits' Enamel Pendant one of a Kind
This Pendant is called, 'The Outer Limits' because it reminds me of the nebula you can find in space. Since my husband takes and processes these images, I often find myself inspired in my work by them. In the photos I 've included one of his images to show you what I mean. I could get lost looking at all the patterns found in there. I finished off the chain with things that remind of the cosmos with even a stone that looks like it is our world floating on the chain. Each link is made with non- tarnishing aluminum- which will not tarnish. It hangs at aprox 24" and can be adjusted in it's length by where you hook into the chain. It is a one of a kind piece and if you own it , you can rest assured you own the only one.
I prepared all the metal used in my creations from cutting out the shapes to sanding the edges, they are really hand crafted, every step of the way. Each enamel piece must go through the kiln anywhere from 5 to 20 times to get the color built up on to the metal. I love working with enamels because of the many different patterns that show up, many that I have no control over. This is what makes them a one of a kind piece. It's great to wear art jewelry for that very reason....it will be yours alone! These are back by textured hand cut wellness copper- an amazing metal that help the body in so many ways. These were created atop my hill in my Appalachian Studio by myself, Christine Keller- International Jewelry Designer.
All the enameling I use in my jewelry is created by myself in studio- these are not prefab pieces. All Copper used is also shaped and pattern by myself, making it true one of a kind jewelry. Enameling is fun to do but can be a long process as you have to prep the metal and then put it through multiple firings in order to layer the color.
By Using Copper with it, you also get the benefits of this great metal: If tradition is to believed, both Copper and Brass (to a lesser degree) have healing properties. Copper is allegedly a strong conductor of energy, and an aid for exhaustion. This makes sense as it is used for electrical wiring. Copper is also supposed to detoxify the body, drawing toxins out from your system through the skin where the copper is worn. These therapeutic properties are evidenced by oxidation, turning your skin green when the piece is not sealed. I have been told by countless customers, that it does indeed relieve arthritis pain. I know from my own experience that if I am eating clean and wear copper, I do not turn green but let my diet be full of sugars and carbs and I will indeed turn green from the toxins. Hospitals also realize the benefits of copper as a movement is now on the replace push plates on doors and equipment in operating room with copper. 95% of hospital germs will live on stainless steel up to 72 hours- THOSE SAME GERMS WILL DIE ON COPPER WITHIN 5 MINUTES! This would save countless people extra long stays that have contracted mersa and other germs from the hospital environment. Brass has the same properties as copper, not quite as strong but has the added benefit of being said to assist in healing the skeletal structure, and is conductive to spiritual and mental healing, self discipline and strength.
